Soldiers salute the portrait of Marine PFC Leroy Sandoval during the presentation at the 2011 inaugural American Fallen Soldiers Project Charity Trial event in Donie, TX.
If you follow this blog, you read my most recent post about the events of September 11, 2001. Regardless of where your views lie politically, the civil servants and soldiers who gave their lives on that day and the months and years since are worth our gratitude and so much more. That is why I want to use this blog as a platform to promote an upcoming event.
The American Fallen Soldiers Project is a non-profit organization that provides comfort and healing to grieving families by presenting them with portraits of their fallen soldiers. The Huffman Farms Vintage Trials Team is hosting a vintage motorcycle trials event in Donie, TX (Between Buffalo and Groesbeck on Highway 164), on Saturday, November 3, with all proceeds benefiting the American Fallen Soldiers Project. If you are not familiar with motorcycle trials, trials riding involves driving modified dirtbikes through an obstacle course full of large pipes, culverts, rocks, logs, etc. In the case of this event, the majority of the competitors will be riding “vintage” bikes that were originally built as far back as the 1970s. As part of the event, there will be barbecue, live music, a bike show, and much more. They are now collecting sponsors, as well, for the event. All donations are tax-deductible. So if you would like to come and see all the bikes, ride in the event, or just want to support the cause, we’d love for you to help out. Here is a flyer about the event with all the details of how you can get involved. Thank you!
